About Tina Barker

My name is Tina Barker, and I have been proud to work at MIS for the past nine years. Before joining the school as an employee, I volunteered in both the Junior School Library and the Finance Office, which gave me a strong understanding of our community long before I officially became part of the team.

My family and I moved to Germany from Chichester, UK, twelve years ago. Two of my sons attended MIS and have since graduated, so I’ve experienced this school from multiple perspectives—as a parent, a volunteer, and now as a staff member. These experiences have shaped my deep appreciation for the dedication, passion, and collaboration that make our school community so special.

In my current roles within the Finance Department and Transportation, I enjoy the balance of working closely with students while collaborating with colleagues across departments. I value the variety, teamwork, and sense of purpose these roles bring, and I aim to bring the same commitment to the Works Council.

Outside of work, I enjoy pottery, jewelry-making, and the occasional sewing project. I love learning new skills, especially exploring new technology, and I bring this curiosity and adaptability into everything I do.

Before moving to Germany, I served on a work council in England. I am no stranger to advocating for colleagues, and I believe strongly in fostering a healthy, respectful relationship between employer and employee. I consider myself loyal, hardworking, approachable, and a committed team player.

Now, with my children grown and an empty nest at home, I have the time, focus, and dedication needed to serve my colleagues effectively. I am committed to listening, supporting, and representing all staff members. If elected to the Works Council, I will work tirelessly to ensure every voice is heard, every concern is addressed, and our workplace remains collaborative, fair, and inclusive.
